About me

CV

Every art form has its high-profile protagonist. In the realm of glass art, it is without a doubt Dr. Petr Larva. The winner of numerous international awards has infused a new spirit into the rich legacy of Bohemian glass art, taking the craft to new levels with incomparable creations that are nothing short of breathtaking. With his patented Quatroplex technology, Larva – originally a painter and glass creator – defies the laws of science and explores hitherto unknown dimensions in glassmaking. Stunning color combinations and aesthetically exquisite designs are his hallmarks. The thinker and academic is the soul behind the new epoch of the legendary Bohemian crystal glass enigma, inspiring innovation in all artisanal facets from tableware to architectural glass.

Larva is the art’s contemporary alchemist who brings together the most talented master glassblowers, cutters, engravers, jewelers, chandelier makers, and painters to accomplish the seemingly impossible – with passionate enthusiasm and the determination to be the benchmark of excellence. “For me,” Larva says, “glass represents the quintessential elements of life: air, fire, water, wood, metal, and earth. A profound involvement with glass makes us aware of our fragility, but at the same time reflects our strengths.” The elite among art connoisseurs has embraced the objects of desire brought to life by Larva and his team. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, fashioned from unleaded crystal of superior quality, using traditional blow pipe and melting pot techniques. All of Larva Design’s seductive creations originate from Petr Larva’s own venerable glass factory in northern Bohemia, the undisputed crucible of the glassmaking world. They are signed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

Apart from designing tableware and glass walls, panels, and windows, Petr Larva also leverages his bright new style in glass interpretation by producing limited-edition art and functional objects for a small circle of private collectors. His original art projects have also contributed to his global reputation as a pioneer with phenomenal visions and an unprecedented sense of aesthetics. “Glass is water that has stopped flowing to please the human eye,” Larva muses. For him, shaping glass is a highly emotional love affair. It is this fire that has elevated Larva Design to the stature of one of the world’s most exclusive superbrands.
